Workplace violence is increasing around the country and emergency service providers are on the front line of the conflict. Findings from a study conducted at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine indicate that violent situations occur in about 5% of all EMS calls. In another study conducted at Loma Linda Medical Center in California found that 61% of EMS providers have been assaulted on the job.

The ESCAPE courses are designed specifically for emergency services / fire professionals focusing on how to handle aggressive patients. The courses focus on controlling violent behavior by applying minimal use of force to protect the individual and avoid litigation. There are four key principles that are taught in the hands on training classes: skeletal locking, blending/connection, posture/presence and grounding.
